Prince Royce’s Debut Album Certified Triple Platinum

by EAStaff | November 3, 2011

Prince Royce’s self-titled debut album has been certified Triple Platinum in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, making the 22 year old the only Latin music artist who has achieved triple platinum status this year.

"I feel blessed and I am extremely grateful to my fans because without them this would not be possible; Top Stop Music, my record company and work team, who have always believed in me; and all the radio stations, media and retail that have supported me so much,” expressed Royce.

“We wholeheartedly congratulate Royce!  Our independent record label, Top Stop Music, launched this brand new artist with a lot of faith and a team that believed it could make a difference. Thanks to Royce’s talent and a lot of hard work, we have achieved just that,” said Sergio George, President of Top Stop Music.

Royce has just completed his second sold out US Tour, this one alongside Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull, and has also sold out two European tours in the last year and a half.

Next week he will have the honor of sharing the stage with legendary Mexican rock group Maná at the Latin GRAMMYs.  They will sing the urban/bachata/rock version they recorded together of Maná's track "El Verdadero Amor Perdona".  Royce is also nominated for "Best Urban Song" along with Daddy Yankee for their collaboration on the song "Ven Conmigo".

These milestones come on the heels of many others recently achieved by the Dominican-American singer/songwriter who has proven himself as the hottest new artist Latin music has seen in years. Royce was nominated for a Latin GRAMMY 2010 (for Best Contemporary Tropical Album), won three 2011 Premio Lo Nuestro Awards; four 2011 Latin Billboard Awards and four 2011 Premios Juventud Awards.

Royce’s debut album includes his first single, a bilingual Bachata cover of the 1961 Ben E. King classic, “Stand By Me,” which Royce performed alongside King at the 2010 Latin Grammy Awards. Royce’s acclaimed version of “Stand By Me” not only reached #1 on the Billboard “Tropical Airplay” chart, as well as becoming the first Bachata song ever to be played on mainstream Pop & R&B radio in the U.S., with the companion video having been viewed over 15 million times on YouTube. Follow-up single "Corazon Sin Cara", written by Royce himself fared even better, reaching the #1 spot on Billboard's Latin Songs chart (of Latin music across all genres).

Via a joint venture between Top Stop Music and Atlantic Records, Royce has entered into an exclusive, long-term, worldwide recording deal with Atlantic Records for all future English and Spanish albums.  He is currently putting the finishing touches on two musical productions that will drop in 2012. His anticipated second bachata album will be released in March and an English pop album will go on sale a few months later.
