Rafael Amaya Honored with Corazon Award at San Diego Latino Film Festival

ACTOR SCREENED “ADIOS MUNDO CRUEL” TO FULL HOUSE THEATER 
AMAYA CHOSEN AS FACE OF THE FESTIVAL—COVERS VIDA LATINA SAN DIEGO MAGAZINE

Talented actor Rafael Amaya screened his recent film “Adios Mundo Cruel” (Goodbye Cruel World) at the 19th Annual San Diego Latino Film Festival. During the Q&A portion of the presentation, Amaya was given the prestigious festival’s top honor—the Corazon Award—for his outstanding work in Television and Film.

“Being honored with the Corazon Award for my trajectory gives meaning to many things, thanks!” Said Amaya upon receiving the award. “I’d like to thank the people responsible for the festival for gathering so many creative souls with a single purpose, to tell stories.  Thanks for creating this platform so that our stories are seen, because a story that is not told does not exist.  Thank you!”

Amaya also thanked his Mother and Dad as well as other members of his family, who traveled from nearby Tecate, Mexico to celebrate with him.  He also took a moment to specifically thank “his ally and partner in crime”, girlfriend Angelica Celaya who was also present supporting Amaya.

Amaya also served as the face of the festival covering this past week’s edition of Vida Latina San Diego Magazine.

“Adios Mundo Cruel” directed by Jack Zagha Kababie, is a creative comedy from Mexico that finds humor in a series of unfortunate events.  The hilarious film follows the story of Angel, a hard-working accountant that due to the economic slump, loses his job and is forced to find other ways to make ends meet for the sake of his family.  Unwilling to share the news with his wife, Angel teams up with a group of petty criminals and begins to plan a heist that will solve all of their financial problems, but his morals and good heart may be the obstacle that stands between him and his money dreams.

In it, Amaya plays the role of an actor and shares the screen with Carlos Alberto Orozco, Monica Bejarano, Jose Montini, Lourdes Villarreal, Sandra Sanchez, Carlos Aragon, Justo Martinez and Pedro Gamez.
