In their new movie Focus, Hollywood Superstar Will Smith plays a veteran con artist named Nicky and Rising Star Margot Robbie plays a novice named Jess. Jess tries to pull a con on Nicky and he caught her red-handed, she wants in and Nicky decides to take her under his wing so to speak. In New Orleans, Jess proves herself, impressing Nicky with her now polished skills.

Nicky is the headmaster of  a large team of highly trained operatives that manages to pick-pocket and steal over more than a million dollars over  the long weekend Mardi Gras celebration. For this part of the movie, Apollo Robbins with a "con artist adviser/pickpocket design" special credit was hired to train in a short time both actors.

Robbins first gained notoriety by pick-pocketing the Secret Service while entertaining President Jimmy Carter and has picked the pockets of more than 250,000 people.

At a recent press conference he showed us a couple of tricks, how breathing is a tell tale of who's lying  and shared some tips to live by like, "the idea is that you are going to be a victim eventually... here in the states we think, that's gonna happen to somebody else." He reinforces the idea of being aware and taking the necessary precautions saying that hiding sentimental things, or jewelry in a coffee cup while going through sketchy areas is a great way to divert attention from the valuables and that pick-pocketers are not going to go through a coffee cup.

In the movie, fabulous montages demonstrate the clever use of diversion techniques and the importance of distraction in making anyone susceptible to getting their pockets emptied.

As the plot moves along, Jess then gets too close to Nicky for his comfort and he cuts her cold and disappears from her life. Three years later they find themselves caught up in the middle of a high risk scheme in Buenos Aires and Jess, now an accomplished femme fatale, throws Nicky off at a time when he cannot afford to be off his game.

During the press conference the pair opened up about their instant chemistry. Robbie shares how she felt totally underdressed for the audition and Smith jokingly added, "and I thought to myself, wow, she really doesn't want this job." Smith then went on to share how when they were doing their lines he went off the script to throw her off and see how she would react and he said, "she ad lib, oh you are such a dick... oh I'm Will Smith you don't say that. But you know it was absolute complete fearlessness and complete comfort, you can't create chemistry, you either have it or you don't and when she walked there, it was really palpable."

The writers had some backstory about Nicky's father and grandfather that's supposed to explain his go-his-own-way behavior and you'll never suspect who his father is and the motives of his actions. Nicky's sidekick Farhad played by Adrian Martinez is a loyal devoted friend with a I don't care about anything attitude that gives the movie some great comedic moments.

Focus had all the necessary ingredients, gunshots, romance, adrenaline rush fast cars, sports and gambling and some comedic moments to distract you, when the whole time the story is about how two fools fall in love.

Don't miss Focus in theaters February 27, 2015.
