During a recent visit to Los Angeles to participate in the Latin Grammy Street Party Series, the Puerto Rican Urban duo Angel & Khriz sat down with us to share some of their latest news.

Although the duo weren’t nominated, they’re very proud that an organization like The Latin Recording Academy “thought of us to represent Reggeaton music in the Street Party, here in LA.” They wanted to take advantage of this visit to promote “Me enamoré” from their last album “Da’ Takeover”, while already working on their new album “Los Internationales” to be released sometime next year.

“Los Internacionales” is the fourth album for Angel & Khriz. Choosing the name of the album was an easy task. “While in the studio working on a remix with Baby Rasta y Gringo, Baby Rasta said ‘You guys are always traveling. You are international.’ So we thought that sounds right! It’s the first time we have an album title before the album is done.” said Khriz. Angel added, “We have traveled the world, so I think we deserve that name.” One of the duo’s goals with this album is to include a ‘rock’ song “with the Angel y Khriz touch!” Khriz said. As on their previous albums, the duo is producing and co-writing all the songs. Santana ‘The Golden Boy’ is collaborating as the musical arranger.

On the “Da’ Takeover”, Angel y Khriz tried their hand at incorporating different styles of music in one album: cumbia, ballenato, R&B, merenge, hip-hop while also featuring established artists from each genre. Salsa with Victor Manuelle, Spanglish club with Flo-Rida and ballad/pop with Divino. “A little bit of everything,” added Angel.

Another aspect of their career that fills them with pride is that their music is being used on films, TV shows and video games. “Just imagine, those are two of my obsessions: video games and movies! It was dream come true. Eventually, I’ll love the opportunity to act and be in a movie.” said Khriz. “Ven báilalo” was included in Grand Theft Auto 4 & Grand Theft Special Edition and in the HBO series The Wire. Also “Muevelo” was included in the movie The Fast and the Furious 4.

Angel y Khriz have traveled the world but hope to visit Argentina, Brazil and Germany soon. In the near future, the duo will be joining Baby Rasta y Gringo in El Salvador and also in their calendar, Peru, which they have five scheduled dates during December.
