by EAStaff | November 14, 2011

With two different albums in the top 5 spots on the Billboard charts, Cristian Castro is once again solidifying his reputation as one of latin music's greats. Following the release of his 14th studio album, "Mi Amigo, El Principe" which debuted at #1 in the US and Puerto Rico, his previous album "Vive El Principe" the first of a two part tribute to the legendary Jose Jose once again found it's way onto the charts at a stunning #4 position since it's 2010 release. Castro celebrated his record breaking first week sales in Las Vegas with a slew of historic performances in the midst of the Latin Recording Academy's 12th Annual Latin Grammy Awards.

On the eve of the Grammy Awards, Cristian was invited by the academy to participate in it's annual Person of the Year banquet, this year honoring Shakira. Cristian was amongst a handful of talented and legendary artists asked to perform during the ceremony, at which time he and Argentinian singer, Vincentico joined together to perform Shakira's classic, "Moscas En La Casa" receiving a standing ovation from the crowd.

The following night, Cristian once again moved audiences, this time around the world with his spectacular performance of "El Triste" off his Grammy nominated album at the Latin Grammy Awards. The performance created a social media buzz with "Cristian Castro" & "El Triste" becoming Trending Topics worldwide and impressively earned him rave reviews from his peer and critics alike.

"Another grand moment in a night filled with them, was Cristian Castro's orchestra-accompanied performance of 'El Triste' (The Sad One). Demonstrating why he's one of the top-selling Latin singers of the moment. Castro compelled his peers and fans in attendance to another standing ovation. His was the best voice of the night." recapped The Huffington Post.

This past Saturday night, Castro proudly represented his country in singing the Mexican national anthem in honor of Mexican boxing champ, Juan Miguel Marquez who took on Manny Paquiao in one of the most anticipated boxing matches of the year. Although Marquez did not take home the title, Castro gave Mexicans around the world another reason to be proud; being one of the first to correctly interpret the country's national anthem without confusing the lyrics as many of his predecessors have done at events in the past.

Following an impressive and historic week for the iconic singer, he shows no signs of slowing down. Amidst all else, Castro was presented with his platinum album commemorating 100,000 sales of "Mi Amigo, El Principe" in it's first week.
