Los Tigres del Norte Win Latin GRAMMY Award

by EAStaff | November 23, 2011

The non-stop success continues for iconic Regional Mexican band Los Tigres del Norte, this time with a win in the most important award ceremony in Latin music: The Latin GRAMMY®. In a magical and very special night for the entertainment industry, the Los Jefes de Jefes (Chiefs of Chiefs), who were nominated in two important categories, were presented with the award for ‘Best Norteño Album.’

Besides the thrill and joy for the win that day, Los Tigres del Norte treated the attending public to a performance along with Paulina Rubio, one of the collaborators on the album for which the band won the award. Los Tigres and Paulina ignited the night as they gave their all during a rendition of their song “Golpes Al Corazón”.

This award is yet another testament to ‘Los Jefes de Jefes’ avant garde musical vision.

To add to an already illustrious year, Los Tigres del Norte is the only Regional Mexican band to be chosen among QUIEN’s “The 50 People That Move Mexico”, in the November 2011 edition of the international magazine. The band is featured along with a repertoire of stand-outs from film, politics, and culture, including actors, businessmen, activists, sports figures, poets and journalists. "Los Tigres del Norte have become a part of our identity as Mexicans, and of our musical tradition," notes the article.

“MTV Unplugged: Los Tigres del Norte and Friends” is a DVD/CD that was recorded on February 8 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, and is available in all formats. It includes classic hits like “Jefe de Jefes”, “La Puerta Negra”, “La Manzanita” and “La Jaula de Oro” in collaboration with some of today’s top artists.
