Sandra Vergara in "Fright Night"

by Mariana Paola Vicente | December 12, 2011

After living in Los Angeles for four years with older sister Sofia and appearing on small roles for CSI: Miami and Nip Tuck, Sandra Vergara made her big screen debut this past August in the horror-thriller Fright Night.

“I had so much fun. It was an easy role for me to portray because my character was the spicy Latina, so I just had to play myself! I had a love and hate relationship with one of the leading characters.” says Vergara on her role as “Ginger”.

The blood-sucking thriller, starring Collin Farrell, was inspired by the 1985 gothic horror cult classic, which Vergara claimed to have seen as part of her research.

“The great thing about this film is that special effects make everything more believable. Being in this movie was a great experience. I feel honored to be a part of such an amazing cast. I would have been more than happy with having my first big role on a small independent film, but being a part of this exceeded my expectations.”

Sandra attributes her success to hard work and the will to never stop trusting herself.

“People will always see in you, what you see in yourself. Being a Latina in this industry is tricky. We (Latin women) always have that spark and energetic personality that sets us apart in auditions. Then again, because of my accent, I am limited in the roles that I can go out for.”

Vergara admits that she looks forward to taking accent reduction courses soon.

When asked about future plans, Sandra assures us that “It is very important to stay hungry in this industry. I will keep on fighting for what I want. Hopefully you’ll keep seeing me in the big screen.”

Don’t miss Sandra Vergara’s performance in Fright Night now in Blu-ray 3-D, Blu-ray, DVD, Digital and On Demand. Loaded with un-rated bonus features, deleted scenes, a gag reel, and so much more just in time for the holidays!
