Univision Reveals 2012 ‘Premio Lo Nuestro’ Nominees

The “Premio Lo Nuestro®” 2012 Latin Music Awards gets underway as Univision Network reveals the full list of nominees during its hit blockbuster entertainment news show, “El Gordo y La Flaca” (The Scoop and The Skinny). The show’s popular hosts Raul de Molina and Lili Estefan welcomed former “Nuestra Belleza Latina” winners Alejandra Espinoza and Ana Patricia Gonzalez, as they announced the A-list names of artists nominated for one of Latin music’s most highly anticipated award shows.

The 24th edition of the “Premio Lo Nuestro” Latin Music Awards will be broadcast LIVE from the American Airlines Arena in Miami on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, from 8-11 p.m. ET on the Univision Network.

Nominations Summary

Six Nominations (Top Nominees):

Shakira

  • Pop Genre – Two nominations for “Pop Song of the Year” (one shared with El Cata for “Rabiosa”); as well as nominations for “Pop Album of the Year” and “Pop Female Artist of The Year”
  • Other – “Artist of the Year” and “Collaboration of the Year” (shared with El Cata)

Tito El Bambino

  • Tropical Genre – Two nominations for “Tropical Song of the Year;” as well as nominations for “Tropical Album of the Year,” “Tropical Male Artist of the Year” and “Tropical Contemporary Artist of The Year”
  • Other – “Artist of the Year”

Five Nominations:

Maná

  • Rock/Alternative Genre – “Rock/Alternative Album Of The Year,” two nominations for “Rock/Alternative Song of The Year” and “Rock/Alternative Artist of The Year”
  • Other – “Artist of the Year”

Prince Royce

  • Tropical Genre – “Tropical Song of The Year,” “Tropical Male Artist of The Year” and “Tropical Contemporary Artist of The Year”
  • Urban Genre – “Urban Song of The Year” (shared with Daddy Yankee)
  • Other – “Collaboration of the Year” (shared with Daddy Yankee)

Four Nominations:

  • Ricky Martin, Natalia Jiménez, Wisin y Yandel, Alejandra Guzmán, Don Omar and Larry Hernández

Three Nominations:

  • Juanes, Daddy Yankee, Gerardo Ortíz, Gloria Trevi, Intocable, Joan Sebastian, la Arrolladora Banda el Limón de René Camacho, Reik, Romeo Santos, Voz de Mano and Zoe

“Premio Lo Nuestro” features nominees in 35 categories, representing Latin music’s most popular genres, including pop, tropical, regional Mexican, rock/alternative and urban. The night reaches an all-time high as winners in the renowned categories are announced: “Artist of the Year,” “Video of the Year,” and “Collaboration of the Year.”

The eligibility period for “Premio Lo Nuestro” 2012 nominations ran between October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011. The list of nominations was based on data provided by Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems (BDS), the world’s leading provider of airplay tracking for the entertainment industry.

The “Premio Lo Nuestro” 2012 winners will be determined by popular vote. Voting began Thursday, December 1 at 4pm ET and will continue through Thursday, December 21 at 11:59pm ET at www.PremioLoNuestro.com
