Natalia Reyes Talks Breaking Barriers and Kicking Ass in “Shadow Force”
With the explosive action-thriller Shadow Force hitting theaters on May 9, fans are buzzing about its star-studded cast, high-octane sequences, and emotional depth. Among the film’s standout performers is Colombian actress Natalia Reyes, who brings passion, grit, and authenticity to her role as Moriti — a fierce operative in a story rooted in family, love, and survival.
Bringing It Home: Filming in Colombia
Reyes radiated pride as she described filming Shadow Force in her home country. “It was an absolute honor,” she said in a recent interview with Melissa Ramiz. “We filmed in Bogotá and Cartagena — even on an island near where I live. It was very emotional to share my country with this amazing team.”
From the historic walls of Cartagena to traditional dishes like arroz con coco and patacón, the shoot was a cultural celebration. Unlike many Hollywood films that use stand-ins or green screens, Shadow Force shows Colombia as Colombia — vivid, real, and unfiltered.
Action With Heart
Though Reyes is no stranger to action (fans will remember her in Terminator: Dark Fate), Shadow Force presented new challenges. “It’s a big action movie, but it has so much heart,” she explained. “It’s about a mother, a father, and a child. Everything has meaning.”
To play Moriti, Reyes underwent intense physical training — all while balancing motherhood. “My daughter wasn’t even one yet,” she recalled. “I was training, acting, and carrying her between takes. That’s what makes us superheroes.”
A Mother’s Day Celebration of Strength
Releasing just in time for Mother’s Day weekend, Shadow Force isn’t just another action flick — it’s a celebration of family. “Take your mom to see this movie,” Reyes urged. “It’s about protection, love, and the sacrifices we make for those we care about.”
She also praised the film’s diverse cast, which features characters from different races, nationalities, and body types. “That diversity makes us stronger,” she said.
Latinos in Hollywood: Real Representation
Reyes emphasized how vital Latino visibility is in global cinema. “It’s not just about talking the talk — we need to see it on screen,” she said. Shadow Force rises to that challenge, showcasing Colombia not as a stereotype, but as a vibrant, authentic setting.
“It’s exciting to see ourselves represented as we are,” Reyes concluded. “This movie is for everyone, but it’s especially meaningful for those of us who’ve waited to see our culture reflected authentically.”
