by EAStaff | July 28, 2025

Comic-Con International closed with an unforgettable and record-breaking Hall H panel that brought together a powerhouse lineup of creative legends—George Lucas, Guillermo del Toro, Doug Chiang, and Queen Latifah—for a profound discussion on the power of storytelling and the future of narrative art.

The panel marked one of the most widely attended and talked-about events in the convention’s history, drawing a capacity crowd of more than 6,000 fans. The conversation centered around the upcoming Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, co-founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson and set to open in Los Angeles in 2026.

Offering an exclusive first look and new details, Lucas reflected on more than five decades of collecting narrative art—from ancient cave drawings and children's book illustrations to comic books and digital media.

“Society cannot exist without a common belief system. And that's where illustration is vital—to show you what that means in everyday life,” said Lucas. “This museum is a temple to the people’s art.”

Del Toro compared the museum’s mission to preserving “rock 'n' roll,” while Chiang spoke about comics as a gateway to discovering art. Queen Latifah emphasized the emotional connection at the heart of storytelling, highlighting pieces like Flash Gordon, Black Panther, and Peanuts among the museum’s diverse collection.

The panel ended with a standing ovation—a powerful send-off to the convention and a reflection of the deep excitement surrounding the museum’s groundbreaking mission: to elevate and celebrate narrative art as a cornerstone of culture and connection.
