“Jaws: The Exhibition” Opens at the Academy Museum This Fall

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws (1975), the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will debut Jaws: The Exhibition on September 14, 2025, marking the first-ever large-scale exhibition dedicated to a single film at the museum—and the most expansive showcase of Jaws ever mounted.
Running through July 26, 2026, in the Marilyn and Jeffrey Katzenberg Gallery, the exhibition features over 200 original objects, including behind-the-scenes artifacts, interactive experiences, and never-before-displayed items from Steven Spielberg’s personal archive, the Amblin Hearth Archive, and the NBCUniversal Archives & Collections.
Curated by Senior Exhibitions Curator Jenny He, along with Emily Rauber Rodriguez and Alexandra James Salichs, Jaws: The Exhibition takes audiences on a scene-by-scene journey through the film, from its chilling opening to its unforgettable finale. The multi-gallery experience includes immersive recreations—like the film’s iconic dolly zoom shot and a full-scale model of the Orca—and explores the lasting cultural impact of the film that birthed the modern summer blockbuster.
Visitors can also expect to see:
- The original mechanical shark schematics, concept art, and set props
- Roy Scheider’s screen-worn costume as Police Chief Brody
- A working interactive shark model by FX legends Greg Nicotero and Howard Berger
- John Williams’s Oscar®-winning musical score, including an interactive station for recreating the film’s famous two-note motif
- A full-scale model of Bruce, the only surviving shark prop, suspended outside the gallery
To mark the opening, the museum will host a special screening of Jaws on September 14, and its store will launch exclusive anniversary merchandise—including apparel, posters, and a special edition vinyl pressing of the score.
Don’t miss this rare deep dive into the making of the movie that invented the summer blockbuster.
