ASTROPICAL Brings Borderless Latin Fusion to the Hollywood Bowl

Get ready, Los Angeles — the stars are about to align at the Hollywood Bowl. On Sunday, September 7 at 7PM, the brand-new supergroup ASTROPICAL will make its long-awaited L.A. debut as part of the KCRW Festival and LA Phil’s Latin Music Concert Series.
If the name sounds cosmic, that’s because it is. ASTROPICAL is the explosive collaboration between Bomba Estéreo, Colombia’s pioneers of electro-cumbia, and Venezuela’s genre-blending innovators Rawayana. Together, they’ve created a sound that’s equal parts Afro-Caribbean, reggaetón, champeta, electronica, and soul — a true fusion of Latin energy that transcends borders.
Born from a spontaneous studio session between Liliana “Li” Saumet (Bomba Estéreo) and Beto Montenegro (Rawayana), the project quickly snowballed into a full album, an international tour, and one of the most buzzed-about collaborations in recent memory. Now joined by Bomba’s José Castillo and Rawayana’s Andrés “Fofo” Story, ASTROPICAL promises a Hollywood Bowl performance that feels less like a concert and more like a celebration of unity, identity, and joy.
The group’s debut album includes cosmic standouts like “Me Pasa,” “Brinca,” and “Fogata,” each inspired by an astrological sign. It’s a record that feels both spiritual and wildly danceable — the perfect soundtrack for a late-summer night under the stars.
Adding to the excitement, Macario Martínez, the viral TikTok sensation and rising star of Música Mexicana, will open the evening. His breakout single “Sueña Lindo, Corazón” has already earned over 21 million Spotify streams and turned him into one of the most promising new voices in Latin music. The Hollywood Bowl show will mark the launch of his first U.S. tour.
Between Bomba Estéreo’s global hits like “Fuego” and “Ojitos Lindos” with Bad Bunny, Rawayana’s recent GRAMMY win, and Martínez’s Cinderella-story rise to fame, this is shaping up to be one of the most electric Latin music nights of the year.
