‘Bajo La Luna’ Honors Latin & Iberian Sounds at The Ford

by EAStaff | August 18, 2025

This summer, The Ford invites audiences to an unforgettable evening of music under the stars with Bajo La Luna, a transcendent concert of contemporary Latin and Iberian sounds. Taking place Sunday, August 31 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the LA Phil’s 2025 Latin music series, the program brings together three acclaimed singer-songwriters: Silvia Pérez Cruz (Spain), La Muchacha (Colombia), and Y La Madrigal (Mexico/US).

A moving tribute to the alchemy of voice, poetry, and tradition, Bajo La Luna honors the rich legacies of the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America while reimagining them through a modern lens. Together, these visionary artists present deeply personal interpretations of folk, protest music, and experimental pop that transcend borders and generations.

Silvia Pérez Cruz, is one of Spain’s most celebrated vocalists. A genre-defying force whose artistry spans flamenco, jazz, and folk, she transforms every song into a powerful emotional journey. Her accolades include a Goya Award, Spain’s National Modern Music Award, and her first Latin GRAMMY nomination in 2024 for Best Song of the Year. Her most recent release, Lentamente (2024), is a collaboration with Argentine guitarist Juan Falú.

La Muchacha, rooted in the Nueva Canción tradition of Latin American protest music, offers a bold and refreshing voice of resistance, tenderness, and truth. With four albums and recent international tours across Europe and the U.S., she explores themes of land, love, community, and resilience. Bajo La Luna marks her highly anticipated Los Angeles debut.

For this one-night-only concert, Luz Elena Mendoza—the celebrated lead vocalist and producer of Y La Bamba—presents a new project created exclusively for Bajo La Luna: Y La Madrigal. With reimagined Latin American classics and original works, Mendoza brings her familiar voice into an intimate new setting. Her artistry, steeped in themes of queerness, identity, and healing, bridges past and present with emotional honesty. Her acclaimed 2023 album Lucha marked a bold new chapter in her evolution as a storyteller and sonic visionary.

Tickets for Bajo La Luna are available at TheFord.com or by phone at 323-850-2000.
