Luis Estrada Brings Dark Satire to Netflix With First-Ever Series ‘The Dead Girls’
Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for The Dead Girls, the highly anticipated new series from acclaimed Mexican filmmaker Luis Estrada (Hell, Herod’s Law). The series will premiere September 10, 2025, exclusively on Netflix.
Adapted from Jorge Ibargüengoitia’s celebrated novel, The Dead Girls brings to life the grotesque, satirical story of two sisters who turned a network of brothels into a sprawling empire in 1960s Mexico. What began as ambition quickly spirals into corruption, violence, and infamy—culminating in a tale so outrageous that it could only be told as Mexican satire.
Estrada, making his long-awaited leap into episodic storytelling, brings along his trusted behind-the-camera team to deliver what promises to be one of Netflix’s most ambitious Mexican productions to date.
Leading the series are Paulina Gaitán and Arcelia Ramírez as the infamous Baladro sisters, supported by an ensemble that includes Alfonso Herrera, Joaquín Cosío, Mauricio Isaac, and many other acclaimed Mexican actors. Together, they transport viewers to the fictional town of Mezcala, where the sisters’ empire unfolds amid chachachá rhythms, heartbreak, bribery, and plenty of tequila.
With The Dead Girls, Estrada delivers his signature blend of biting satire and unflinching storytelling, transforming a shocking chapter of Mexican history into gripping entertainment.
Don’t miss the premiere of The Dead Girls on September 10, 2025, only on Netflix.
