Samantha Walkes & Isaiah Mustafa Talk Loyalty and Growth in ‘Cross’ Season 2

Alex Cross is back — and this time, the stakes cut even deeper. Season 2 of Cross premieres February 11, 2026 on Prime Video, launching with three episodes before rolling out weekly through the March 18 finale. Based on characters created by James Patterson, the Washington, D.C.–set crime thriller continues to push its characters into darker, more emotionally charged territory.

When Entertainment Affair’s Raffael Alejandro sat down with Samantha Walkes and Isaiah Mustafa, the conversation quickly turned to growth — both personal and professional — for their characters John Sampson and Elle Monteiro.

Mustafa’s Detective John Sampson enters Season 2 in a new chapter of his life. He’s more grounded, more committed — even navigating a serious relationship — but that stability comes at a crucial time. As the season unfolds and Sampson is forced to confront increasingly intense circumstances, Mustafa shared that the timing of this evolution feels intentional. His character may be growing up, but he’s also about to be tested like never before. With scripts arriving as production moves forward, preparation becomes a fast, focused process — locking in emotionally as each new twist is revealed.

Walkes’ Elle Monteiro, meanwhile, embraces a powerful shift. No longer simply defined by her romantic connection to Alex Cross, Elle becomes more vocal about what she wants for her future and the people she loves. She advocates harder. She stands firmer. And she leans into the belief that love isn’t a fairy tale — it’s work.

For Walkes, that authenticity resonates deeply. She connects with Elle’s belief that true love means embracing the whole person — the highs, the mess, the vulnerability. It’s about choosing to stay in the roller coaster, not just enjoying the easy moments. That emotional maturity gives Season 2 a grounded, human pulse amid the serial-killer suspense and political intrigue.

The dynamic between Mustafa and Walkes is effortless, playful, and genuine — a reflection of the strong ensemble chemistry that continues to anchor the series. Even as billionaire titan Lance Durand (Matthew Lillard) becomes entangled in a deadly investigation led by Alex Cross and the FBI, it’s the relationships — friendships, partnerships, romances — that give the thriller its emotional weight.

With returning stars Isaiah Mustafa, Samantha Walkes, Alona Tal, Juanita Jennings, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, and Johnny Ray Gill alongside new additions Matthew Lillard, Jeanine Mason, and Wes Chatham, Season 2 expands the Cross universe while deepening the personal journeys at its core.

Justice may drive the plot, but loyalty and love define the heart of Cross.

Season 2 of Cross begins streaming February 11 on Prime Video.
