Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington are caught in a dangerous web of secrets and deception in Animals, Netflix’s upcoming political thriller arriving this fall.

Netflix has released the official teaser for the film, which sees Affleck pulling double duty as director and star. Set against the backdrop of Los Angeles politics, Animals follows Mark Kimball (Affleck), a candidate for mayor, and his wife Abigail (Washington), whose lives are thrown into chaos when their son is kidnapped.

As the couple scrambles to raise the ransom, the crisis begins to expose cracks beneath their carefully constructed life, forcing them to make increasingly difficult choices that could threaten Mark’s political ambitions, their marriage and their family.

The largely dialogue-free teaser offers flashes of the nightmare ahead, leaning into tension and uncertainty as the kidnapping sends the Kimballs into a desperate race against time.

Filmed in and around Los Angeles, Animals also stars Gillian Anderson, Steven Yeun, Adriana Paz, Ray Fisher, Christopher Woodley and Luis Gerardo Méndez.

Affleck directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Connor O. McIntyre and Billy Ray. The film reunites Affleck and Matt Damon as producers through Artists Equity, alongside Brad Weston, Collin Creighton, Dani Bernfeld and Luciana Damon.

Animals arrives in select theaters and on Netflix October 9, 2026.
