Welcome Back to Hogwarts: ‘Harry Potter’ Unveils Magical New Teaser

by EAStaff | September 3, 2026

The doors to Hogwarts are opening once again. HBO has unveiled the official second teaser for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, offering the most revealing look yet at its highly anticipated adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s first novel ahead of the eight-episode season’s Christmas 2026 debut on HBO and HBO Max.

Dominic McLaughlin steps into the iconic role of Harry Potter, joined by Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The new footage takes audiences deeper into Harry’s first year in the wizarding world, with glimpses of Hogwarts, the Sorting Ceremony, Quidditch and some of the dangers awaiting the young trio.

John Lithgow’s Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer’s Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu’s Severus Snape and Nick Frost’s Rubeus Hagrid also appear as HBO continues to introduce its new interpretation of the familiar characters.

But perhaps most intriguing is what audiences haven’t seen before. The footage includes moments from the book that were not depicted in the original 2001 film, offering an early indication of how the eight-episode format could allow the series to dig deeper into Harry’s story and bring previously unexplored material to the screen.

And HBO isn’t waiting long to continue the journey. Work is already moving forward on the second season, which will adapt Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. With its young leads growing up in real time, the production is expected to keep the story moving with less downtime between seasons.

The new series arrives more than 25 years after audiences first watched Harry discover that he was a wizard on the big screen, but HBO is clearly aiming to make this trip to Hogwarts feel both familiar and new.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone premieres Christmas 2026 on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
