Ella Bright & Belmont Cameli Tease Prime Video’s Steamy ‘Off Campus’
Things are heating up at Briar University—and not just on the ice. Off Campus, Prime Video’s upcoming college drama based on the bestselling book series by Elle Kennedy, is bringing romance, ambition, and emotional depth to the forefront, and stars Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli are right at the center of it all.
In a recent conversation with Entertainment Affair’s Raffael Alejandro, the two leads opened up about stepping into the world of Off Campus, where an elite ice hockey team and the women in their lives navigate love, heartbreak, and the messy transition into adulthood. All eight episodes of Season 1 drop May 13, 2026 on Prime Video.
At the heart of the story is the “opposites attract” romance between Hannah, a reserved songwriter, and Garrett, Briar University’s all-star hockey player. But as both actors made clear, the show goes far beyond a typical love story.
“What drew us to the scripts is just how much complexity and depth there is,” Bright shared. “You get these fun, light moments, but also really emotional scenes where you have to go there. It was such an exciting challenge.”

That emotional range is especially evident in Hannah’s journey. While she may initially come across as quiet and reserved, Bright leaned into the character’s internal struggles and growth, crafting a performance that balances vulnerability with strength. From playful banter to deeply personal moments, she described the role as one that allowed her to explore both levity and emotional healing.
Cameli faced a different kind of challenge—bringing authenticity to Garrett’s life on the ice. Though he didn’t grow up playing hockey, he fully committed to the role, training extensively and even leaning on friends for insight into the sport.
“I’m from Chicago, where hockey is huge, but it wasn’t one of my sports,” Cameli said. “So I called a friend who knows everything about it and basically made him my personal hockey consultant. Then it was just about putting in the work.”
Still, for both actors, preparation only goes so far. Once on set, it was all about trusting the process—and each other.
“You prepare, you prepare, you prepare,” Cameli explained. “But then you show up on the day, and with such a talented cast, you just get to play. That’s where the magic happens.”

That sense of play translated into a natural on-screen chemistry that quickly became one of the show’s biggest strengths. Despite not knowing each other prior to filming, Bright and Cameli formed a close bond during production in Vancouver—something audiences will undoubtedly feel.
“We met during chemistry reads, but it wasn’t until we started filming that we really got to know each other,” Cameli shared. “It just became a very natural friendship.”
While romance is a driving force, Off Campus thrives as an ensemble series, weaving together multiple storylines that explore friendship, identity, ambition, and self-discovery. It’s a mix that both actors believe will resonate widely.
“There are so many characters and so many different elements,” Cameli said. “It plays in a lane people already love, but it also brings something new and meaningful.”

Bright echoed that sentiment, highlighting the show’s relatability. “The friendships are such a huge part of it,” she said. “There’s truly something for everyone—someone you’ll connect with, or a story that feels personal.”
Created for television by Louisa Levy, Off Campus boasts a strong ensemble cast including Mika Abdalla, Antonio Cipriano, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Josh Heuston, and Stephen Kalyn. Behind the scenes, Levy also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Gina Fattore, with Temple Hill’s Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, and James Seidman also executive producing.
And Prime Video is already betting big on the series—Off Campus has officially been renewed for a second season ahead of its debut.
With its mix of romance, humor, emotional stakes, and ensemble storytelling, Off Campus looks poised to become Prime Video’s next binge-worthy obsession.
