Univision Amps it Up at the 24th Annual "Premio Lo Nuestro" Latin Music Awards

by EAStaff | February 17, 2012

In a night where 21 show-stopping performances highlighted the best in Latin music, the Univision Network celebrated musical excellence and innovation across genres, including pop, tropical, regional Mexican, rock alternative and urban at the 24th annual “Premio Lo Nuestro” 2012 Latin Music Awards. The broadcast, which aired LIVE from the American Airlines Arena is the longest-running Latin music awards show in Spanish-language television history.

Shakira and Prince were the night’s biggest winners with four awards each and Mexican band Intocable won three awards.

“Premio Lo Nuestro” opened the night with a never before seen on Spanish television high-tech number by regaettón king Daddy Yankee performing his hit song “Lovumba.”

In one of the night’s most talked about moments, Venezuelan duo Chino y Nacho descended on stage with a spectacular entrance, giving way to their sexy cabaret-themed performance of “El Poeta.”

Other highlights included singer Luis Fonsi’s high-impact worldwide premiere of Menudo’s original “Claridad,” accompanied by the “Premio Lo Nuestro” fan pit that jammed to an eclectic show of neon lights.

The show also featured some of Latin music’s most anticipated duets, including one of the night’s mega performances by Pitbull “Mr. Worldwide” and Chris Brown who delivered a blowout presentation of their hit “International Love” in an airport-like setting where cities around the world came to life on an oversized flight ticker, creating a destination that was simply out-of-this-world.

Prince Royce rocked the house with the worldwide premiere of “Las Cosas Pequeñas,” while Europe’s hottest DJ Juan Magan brought the house down with “Bailando Por El Mundo,” along with Pitbull “Mr. Worldwide” and El Cata, bringing the bustling streets of Madrid to life before the audience in an unforgettable party.

In one of the most emotional moments, international star Enrique Iglesias honored beloved television personality and legend Mario Kreutzberger “Don Francisco,” with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for his 50-year career and remarkable trajectory in the entertainment industry.

“Premio Lo Nuestro” 2012 was hosted by Mexican beauty Jacqueline Bracamontes and novela leading man Eduardo Santamarina.
