Univision Announces Complete List of Nominees for the 25th Annual "Premio Lo Nuestro"

Prince Royce, Romeo, Don Omar, Maná, Jenni Rivera, Jesse & Joy And La Arolladora Banda El Limón De René Camacho Among The Most Nominated Artists

The biggest and hottest recording artists in the Latin music industry will be competing in 33 different categories for “Premio Lo Nuestro 2013.” Today, during its top-rated morning show “Despierta América” (Wake Up America), the Univision Network revealed the complete list of nominees for the 25th Annual Edition of “Premio Lo Nuestro,” the longest running and most popular Latin music awards show in the U.S. The 2013 winners will be announced during a spectacular 3-hour gala broadcast commemorating the show’s 25thanniversary, which will air live from Miami on February 21, 2013.

Topping the roster of Latin music superstars vying for the coveted award in multiple categories are the “King of Bachata” Romeo, with seven nominations; Dominican-American bachata superstar Prince Royce, also with seven nominations; celebrated reggaeton artist Don Omar, with six nominations; and world-famous Mexican rock band Maná, with six nominations as well.  They are followed by Regional Mexican music stars Jenni Rivera and La Arrolladora Banda El Limón de René Camacho, pop duo Jesse & Joy, and electronic music DJ Juan Magán, all of which received five nominations each.

Additional multiple nominees include Latin rockers Beto Cuevas and Juanes (four nominations each); tropical music singer Victor Manuelle (four nominations); pop stars Alejandro Sanz, Ricardo Arjona and Paulina Rubio (three nominations each); tropical fusion duo Chino y Nacho (three nominations); Regional Mexican idol Gerardo Ortiz (three nominations); and  reggaeton stars Daddy Yankee and Wisin y Yandel (three nominations each). Popular merengue artist Elvis Crespo, Spanish pop singer Shaila Dúrcal, urbancrossover sensation Pitbull, rapper Flo Rida and superstars Jennifer Lopez and Shakira also made it to the nominations list, among many others. In addition, nominated for the coveted New Artist of the Year award are 3BallMTYJuan MagánKary Hernandez and third season “¡Mira Quién Baila!” winner Henry Santos.

A total of 130 nominations in 33 different categories were announced today.

The list of nominees was based on data provided by Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems (BDS), the world’s leading provider of airplay tracking for the entertainment industry. The eligibility period for “Premio Lo Nuestro 2013” nominations was October 1, 2011 through September 30th, 2012.

Recognizing excellence in five music genres – Pop, Tropical, Regional Mexican, Rock/Alternative, and Urban–, the “Premio Lo Nuestro” awards are bestowed yearly in acknowledgement of the artists that receive the most radio airplay during the eligibility period. Winners are determined by popular vote. Voting began December 3rd at 11 a.m. ET and will continue through December 23rd at 11:59 p.m. ET on www.PremioLoNuestro.com.
