Netflix to Launch ‘Brown Love’ Podcast Celebrating All Things Latinx

by EAStaff | February 19, 2020

Following the launch of Netflix's newest social media community for all things Latinx, Con Todo  (Instagram, Twitter), this month, Netflix will launch the first episode of its Brown Love podcast. Drawn out from the fictional world of the upcoming series Gentefied (premiering February 21) and brought into the Netflix universe, Brown Love is a six-episode podcast celebrating the multi-faceted US Latinx experience. Each week, host Dascha Polanco (Orange Is the New Black, Russian Doll and When They See Us) talks to Latinxs in Hollywood who are making space for communities to see themselves, tackling topics like machismo, self-care, comedy and the first-generation experience.

The first episode, launching February 25, addresses Afro-Latinidad and features Polanco in conversation with Selenis Leyva (Orange is the New Black, Maniac) and Julissa Calderón (Gentefied) discussing their experiences as Afro-Latinas in Hollywood, confronting biases in their communities and the many ways to be Latinx.

Netflix recognizes these and other Afro-Latinx talent who are representing the richness and diversity of the culture so that more lives are reflected on-screen.
