Disney Closes Out CinemaCon 2026 with ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ First Look

CinemaCon 2026 went out with a bang as The Walt Disney Studios delivered a massive, star-studded presentation that underscored why the studio continues to dominate the global box office. Taking over The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Disney brought together talent from across its powerhouse banners—Disney Live Action, Pixar, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studios, and Searchlight Pictures—for an afternoon packed with exclusive footage, surprise appearances, and major announcements.
Chairman Alan Bergman kicked things off with a sizzle reel highlighting the studio’s upcoming slate before reminding exhibitors of Disney’s unmatched track record. With titles like Zootopia 2, Avatar: Fire and Ash, and Lilo & Stitch all crossing the billion-dollar mark, Disney once again claimed the top spot at the global box office—marking nine out of the last ten years at No. 1. The message was clear: theatrical storytelling is alive and thriving, and Disney intends to keep it that way.

That commitment extended beyond content with the unveiling of Infinity Vision, a new premium large format certification initiative designed to ensure audiences experience films on the biggest screens with the most immersive sound and visuals possible. It’s a direct investment in the theatrical experience—and a signal that Disney is doubling down on the big screen.
From there, the presentation shifted into high gear with a rapid-fire look at upcoming releases. Anne Hathaway introduced a first look at The Devil Wears Prada 2, setting the tone for the studio’s mix of nostalgia and new storytelling. Then Jon Favreau took the stage to debut an extended preview of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, including the final trailer and the first 18 minutes of footage—marking the franchise’s long-awaited return to theaters.

Pixar brought the crowd to its feet with Toy Story 5, as Tom Hanks and Tim Allen reunited onstage to introduce new footage from the next chapter, which sees the beloved toys confronting a tech-driven world. Meanwhile, Dwayne Johnson and rising star Catherine Lagaʻaia offered a first look at the live-action Moana, blending cultural legacy with blockbuster spectacle.
20th Century Studios delivered a darker tone with Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, while also teasing survival thrillers like Whalefall. Searchlight Pictures added prestige to the mix with Wild Horse Nine, a dark comedy from Martin McDonagh, alongside updates on upcoming projects from the specialty label.

Animation wasn’t left behind either. Disney Animation unveiled Hexed, a magical coming-of-age story featuring new voice talent from Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones, while the Ice Age franchise roared back to life with Ice Age: Boiling Point, bringing Ray Romano, Denis Leary, and Queen Latifah to the stage.
But the biggest moment of the afternoon belonged to Marvel. Kevin Feige took the stage to spotlight Avengers: Doomsday, introducing directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo before a jaw-dropping surprise: Robert Downey Jr. made a dramatic entrance in full Doctor Doom-inspired style, bringing the crowd to its feet. He was soon joined by Chris Evans, before debuting an exclusive first look at footage from the film, setting the stage for what promises to be a massive cinematic event when the film hits theaters this December.

As the presentation wrapped, a countdown clock for Avengers: Doomsday ticked down on screen—an unmistakable reminder of the scale and ambition Disney is bringing to theaters in the months ahead.
From billion-dollar franchises to bold new originals, Disney’s CinemaCon 2026 showcase wasn’t just about what’s next—it was a statement. The studio isn’t just playing the theatrical game—it’s defining it.
