Joel Kinnaman & Corey Stoll Tease Secrets and Twists in “Imperfect Women”

Apple TV’s Imperfect Women continues to unravel its gripping mystery, and according to stars Joel Kinnaman and Corey Stoll, the deeper you go, the more complicated—and surprising—things become.

Speaking with Entertainment Affair’s Raffael Alejandro, the duo opened up about stepping into a story driven by powerful female characters and a creative team led almost entirely by women. Kinnaman described the experience as stepping into a “female powerhouse” production, where collaboration thrived and the tone on set balanced intensity with a sense of fun. Both actors leaned into the dynamic, joking about being in the minority while embracing the energy of a cast led by Elisabeth Moss and Kerry Washington.

Kinnaman’s character, Robert, sits at the center of the show’s emotional and psychological tension following Nancy’s death. While grief drives him, there’s an underlying sense that he may not be as straightforward as he appears. When asked what Robert might be hiding, Kinnaman hinted that the mystery runs deeper than secrets—suggesting that Robert may not even fully understand himself. And yes, fans can expect the show to continue pushing boundaries, including some of the more talked-about moments that have already sparked reactions.

On the flip side, Stoll’s Howard initially presents as the “perfect husband,” but that perception won’t last. Stoll teased that as the series progresses, particularly around the midpoint, viewers will see an entirely different side of his character emerge. That evolution—shifting from scene to scene and episode to episode—was what ultimately drew him to the role, offering both a challenge and an opportunity to constantly redefine who Howard is.

At its core, Imperfect Women thrives on duality—how appearances rarely match reality, and how even the most stable relationships can fracture under pressure. As the mystery unfolds, both actors promise that audiences should stick with the journey, because the biggest revelations are still ahead.

Imperfect Women is now streaming on Apple TV. Are you watching?
