Sony Pictures came to CinemaCon 2026 with one goal: to own opening night—and from the moment the lights dimmed inside the Dolby Colosseum at Caesars Palace, it was clear they brought everything. Packed with exclusive footage, major reveals, and crowd-pleasing surprises, the studio delivered one of the most electric presentations of the convention so far.

All eyes were on Spidey—and Sony didn’t disappoint. Spider-Man: Brand New Day kicked things off with a hologram intro from Tom Holland, instantly igniting the room before an extended look teased a more emotional, character-driven chapter for Peter Parker following the events of No Way Home. The footage, which remains under wraps, hinted at deeper stakes for Peter, MJ, and Ned, signaling a more mature direction for the franchise.

The Spider-Verse also made a major impact as Sony unveiled fresh footage from Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Though brief, the glimpse drew huge reactions and reaffirmed the franchise’s status as one of the most visually groundbreaking animated series in modern cinema.

Sony quickly shifted tones, leaning into horror with chilling previews that brought the temperature down inside the Colosseum. Insidious: Out of the Further delivered major scares, while a dark new look at Resident Evil—introduced by director Zach Cregger—promised a more faithful and terrifying return to the survival horror roots fans have been craving.

Beyond its blockbuster franchises, Sony showcased a diverse and ambitious slate of upcoming projects. Attendees were treated to first looks at Breadwinner, while Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning spotlighted their long-awaited adaptation of The Nightingale, marking the first time the sisters will share the screen together. Sony also highlighted its more prestige-driven storytelling with a first look at Klara and the Sun, Taika Waititi’s adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s acclaimed novel, offering a glimpse into the film’s emotional and visually distinct world.

Action fans got a taste of Helldivers, directed by Justin Lin, while Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning added a prestige edge to the lineup, signaling Sony’s continued investment in bold, conversation-driving storytelling.

Sony also made it clear that its future extends beyond traditional franchises. The studio doubled down on its gaming ambitions with an R-rated animated adaptation of Bloodborne, alongside its continued push into adaptations like Helldivers and Resident Evil.

Original storytelling also took center stage with Buds, a quirky animated feature centered on talking plants, and Grand Gear, a mysterious new project from Takashi Yamazaki and producer J. J. Abrams that’s already generating buzz ahead of its planned 2028 release.

Just when it felt like the presentation had already hit its peak, Sony closed things out with Jumanji: Open World, bringing the energy back up and sending the crowd out on a high. The finale underscored the studio’s commitment to delivering big, fun, theatrical experiences that keep audiences coming back to the big screen.

Sony Pictures didn’t just show up to CinemaCon 2026—they made an early statement. From Spider-Man leading the charge to horror chills, prestige storytelling, and blockbuster spectacle, the studio delivered a crowd-pleasing opening night presentation that set the tone for the week.
