There’s no light where we’re going—and the first teaser for Verity makes that crystal clear.

Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the teaser for Verity, the big-screen adaptation of Verity, starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett. Directed by Michael Showalter, the psychological thriller arrives only in theaters October 2.

The teaser introduces Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson), a struggling writer hired to complete a book series for the enigmatic Verity Crawford (Hathaway). But after discovering Verity’s chilling personal writings, Lowen is pulled into a web of dark secrets involving Verity and her husband Jeremy (Hartnett).

Moody, tense, and filled with unsettling moments, the footage leans into the story’s blurred lines between truth and manipulation. Hathaway teases a haunting performance, while Johnson grounds the mystery as everything begins to unravel.

Based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, Verity is shaping up to be one of the fall’s most talked-about thrillers.
