Rebecca Ferguson & Graham Yost Tease Bigger Mysteries in ‘Silo’ Season 3
The world of Silo is about to expand in a major way.
During a recent conversation with Entertainment Affair's Raffael Alejandro, star and executive producer Rebecca Ferguson and creator/showrunner Graham Yost discussed what fans can expect from the upcoming third season of Apple TV's acclaimed sci-fi drama, including Juliette's latest challenges, the introduction of the long-awaited "Before Times" storyline, and the continued evolution of the series' sprawling mystery.
After surviving the events of season two, Juliette Nichols enters season three facing a new obstacle: memory loss. Rather than revisiting familiar territory, Ferguson explained that one of the show's greatest strengths is its ability to continually reinvent itself while advancing a larger story that has been building since the beginning.

A significant portion of the new season shifts attention beyond the silo itself, exploring events that took place centuries before the underground society was created. Ferguson shared that she found these scenes particularly fascinating because they begin to answer questions that viewers have been asking since the series premiered. The storyline follows journalist Helen Drew and Congressman Daniel Keene as they uncover a conspiracy whose consequences eventually reshape the world.
Yost noted that season three serves as another important chapter in a much larger narrative, allowing audiences to finally start connecting pieces of the puzzle that have been carefully planted throughout the first two seasons. As the mystery deepens, the series also broadens its scope, giving viewers a better understanding of how the world of Silo came to exist.
The conversation also touched on Ferguson's role as an executive producer. While she joked that she initially had to look up what the title actually meant when it was first offered to her, she explained that the position has given her the opportunity to be involved in areas of production beyond acting. Through participation in publicity efforts and occasional visits to the writers' room, she has gained a deeper appreciation for the creative process behind the series.

Yost praised Ferguson's contributions behind the scenes, crediting her with helping establish a collaborative and supportive environment on set. He explained that her involvement as both the lead actor and an executive producer helped foster a strong sense of teamwork among the cast and crew, creating an atmosphere where everyone felt invested in the success of the show.
He also reflected on how much the production has grown since the first season. Early on, the creative team frequently relied on him to determine whether ideas fit within the established rules of the silo. As the series progressed, however, the cast and crew became so familiar with the world and its mythology that they were able to navigate many of those decisions themselves.
With season three set to explore both the future and the distant past of this dystopian universe, Ferguson and Yost made it clear that audiences can expect some long-awaited answers while uncovering new mysteries along the way.
Season three of Silo premieres July 3 on Apple TV.
