Carrie White is back — but the cruelty surrounding her has evolved. Prime Video has released the official trailer for Carrie, Mike Flanagan’s reimagining of Stephen King’s iconic debut novel, offering a chilling new look at the eight-episode series ahead of its worldwide premiere on October 7.

Summer H. Howell steps into the title role as Carrie White, a sheltered teenager whose introduction to public high school quickly becomes a nightmare. After spending most of her life isolated at home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan), Carrie finds herself navigating adolescence, relentless bullying and a viral scandal amplified by social media.

And, of course, there are those increasingly powerful telekinetic abilities. The trailer makes it clear Flanagan isn’t simply recreating the Carrie audiences already know. Instead, the series brings King’s coming-of-age horror story into the social-media era, where humiliation can spread far beyond the walls of a high school and cruelty can follow its victim everywhere.

As Carrie attempts to find friendship and acceptance, the escalating abuse begins pushing her toward the devastating night that has become one of horror’s most recognizable moments. But this version appears interested in digging deeper into the circumstances that lead her there — and whether Carrie should ultimately be viewed as a victim, a monster, or something far more complicated.

The new adaptation arrives during a milestone year for the property, marking the 50th anniversary of Brian De Palma’s acclaimed 1976 film starring Sissy Spacek.

Five decades later, the bucket may still be waiting — but Carrie is confronting a very different world.
