Netflix has unveiled the first teaser trailer for La Bola Negra, the sweeping new drama from Spanish filmmakers Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, better known as Los Javis.

Following its acclaimed debut at the Cannes Film Festival, where Calvo and Ambrossi shared the Best Director prize, La Bola Negra spans nearly a century of Spanish history, following three generations of men whose lives are intimately connected through desire, pain, love and the weight of the past.

Set across 1932, 1937 and 2017, the story follows Carlos (Milo Quifes), a young man searching for belonging in a fractured Spain; Sebastián (Guitarricadelafuente), a soldier who finds an unexpected connection across enemy lines; and Alberto (Carlos González), who uncovers a long-buried family secret that brings previously suppressed truths to light.

Set to Vera Lynn’s “We’ll Meet Again,” the newly released teaser moves between a small-town casino, the Spanish Civil War and modern-day Spain, offering a glimpse at the film’s ambitious journey across generations.

The film takes its name from an unfinished work by legendary Spanish poet and playwright Federico García Lorca. Los Javis co-wrote the film with Alberto Conejero, drawing inspiration from Conejero’s La piedra oscura, La bola negra and other texts by Lorca to explore themes of freedom, legacy and LGBTQ+ visibility.

Spanish singer-songwriter Guitarricadelafuente makes his acting debut as Sebastián, leading an international ensemble that also includes Elite star Miguel Bernardeau, Carlos González, Milo Quifes, Lola Dueñas and Julio Torres, with special appearances by Penélope Cruz as Nené Romero and Glenn Close as Isabelle.

La Bola Negra will open in U.S. theaters on October 16, 2026.
